Last week I had a large project start on Tuesday and the original deadline was Friday morning. It was stressful but it got done. That deadline turned out to be incorrect and ended up being saturday evening. By the time I was done working it was practically time to put Dilly to bed, and as I watched her sleep I couldn’t help wonder what was the point? It definitely not help the situation knowing I had another project that needed done on Sunday,…and Monday,….and. I might have a weekend off in october. Hallowistmakuh is coming up, I’m taking that day off for sure, cute plans this year.

Is this just it now?
Rush jobs are the worst. I have no motivation to draw when I get off work at 9:30. At that point I’ve missed the kids all day and the wife is going to bed shortly, the only thing that can ever come out of this situation is a rushed comic I don’t care about, another “I’m not working comic”, or a depressing one. Doing the full painted backgrounds feels fulfilling but a “fast” full comic takes 2 hours at least assuming nothing comes up (how often does that ever happen), and the throw away ones don’t give me any real practice. I need to seriously consider shifting to 3 days a week or find a new workflow.
Extra work but it’s ok?
So I have to work overtime today so I don’t have time to draw full on comic, but I should be able to draw tomorrow. I can’t really talk about it yet and I’m annoyed this project is so rushed, but it’s a cool enough project I don’t mind. It is a weird feeling to be making something and have all the pieces fall into place perfectly. It causes weird thoughts like “Wait,……do I actually know what I’m doing now?”
Haircut
I’ve gotten pretty ok at cutting my own hair for the most part. The crown still gives me alot of trouble though. Now I might have to go into the office and I’m not thrilled with that at all. I’m pretty sure my battery is dead by this point so I can either replace the battery or pay for faster internet. Which is least annoying?
Candy Corn
I’m behind on spooky comics.
I’m working on a wrap for a friend’s old tv and I’m stuck on a portion. I tried to get it done before going back to comics but it’s taking too long. I need to get that thing done so I can finish a tale of sails. Both projects are just lingering and gnawing at my motivation to do anything else, and now extra work is starting to creep back in. I liked having a week with no second job.
Vacations end and work continues.
The last day of vacation is always the worst. Especially when the “vacation” is just not do extra work so there’s time for the to-do list finally. After Labor day I realized I need a full weeks break from here. I tried to get a project done but I can’t seem to make headway on it so I probably won’t be wasting any space this week with unfunny updates. I apologize to the three people that attempt to read these.
I did get to play with Dilly alot last week, so falling behind here was worth it.
Vacation
I have some rush jobs that normally wouldn’t be an issue as they render in the background, problem is that program keeps hanging after the newest update. So that means I’m stuck rendering with the main program in the foreground incapacitating my workstation. Since I wouldn’t be able to get started until after midnight, tonight’s art is just a loss.
9/3 edit. I’m taking a holiday off for once. So from today through labor day I’m not posting anything. Have a safe holiday.
9/8 edit. Having the weekend off was more of a relief than anticipated, so I’m extending my break this whole week. I can play with Dilly and clear out the to-do list in peace this way.
And it’s back on.
I remembered to save this time, and the second pass definitely came out better than the one I lost. So silver linings and all that. Yesterdays comic was a bigger hit than expected for angrily typing out at midnight. The internet’s a weird place.
I did not save.
Boardgames Anonymous Update
I actually managed to talk myself out of the Twilight Imperium expansion. The only reason I want to get it is just to say I have it. It will absolutely never get learned or played. So that’s great and all but that left a hole my compulsive brain needed to fill, which it did. Immediately. I’ve managed to skip almost all the Arkham Horror LCG expansion’s, though Carcosa is tempting, but The Innsmouth Conspiracy slithered it’s way into my brain. Something about the cold and damp gets too me.
Unfortunately this is choice cost’s more, so that’s, just, great. Scooby Doo is ready for Hallowistmukah night though so that’s going to be fun, I think dilly will like the stories, we’ll find out.
