A Tale of Sails. Havana.
Chapter 1 of a tale of sails will consist of turn 1 of the board game merchants and marauders. My captain’s home port in this play through was havana, which is where this tale begins.

Mondays and Fridays will now be adventure tales made of board game session. First up is a pirate tale told by one of my favorite games. Merchants and Marauders.
I’ve decided on Monday and Fridays only because I don’t want to get annoyed like I did during the Elder Signs story. Both the story and my motivation suffered as I tried to wrap it up when I realized how long it was going. Now there is just something a little extra to look forward too each week.
Well this is the end of the first Billy Oboe story. The idea didn’t turn out quite as I wanted. Taking over the strip for this long has some issues. Instead of completely taking over with the next game story I’ll take over a couple of days during the week. It also won’t be black and white. I need to do a serious postmortem on this to learn from mistakes along the way.
Turn 6 – entering the other world left only one sanity point left. This is the last turn.
The Science building was replaced by the church. I didn’t have the game played through completely when I set this world up. so Lesson learned there. I also won’t due a continuous long form takeover like this. I don’t like pulling away from normal strips this long. I think I will split up the week a little with these from now on.
Turn 6 – enter the science building
For story’s sake I’ve replace the science building with the church. I doubt a small dying town would haveĀ science building. This is the start of the last turn.
Turn 5 – a shoggoth appears in the gate location. Very little sanity left at this point. Danger and answers rapidly approach.
The movement description was birthed from this picture angel oak and the thought of how a tree like that would grow if it was a creature chasing you.
At midnight two portals appeared. I placed them at the most logical places I would go to introduce something more alien. Every turn now sanity is slipping faster than I can restore it.
Turn 5 – two gates appear at midnight.
This and the previous strip actually solved two problems I had backed my self into through a bit of serendipity.. First there is no trinket building in the opening shot. Two, the description of the city left little room for locations. By having the trinket shop disappear a diner be open 24 hours I was able to provide somewhere for the story continue.
This other worldly portal is the original idea on how color was going to be introduced into the strip.
Turn 4 – success at the sake of sanity, still no closer to stopping the elder god.
The whispers are not just scribbles. I knew there was no way I could write like that consistently so I made a custom font.
